10 Best Selling Car Makers In December 2021

1.Maruti Suzuki (1,13,851 Units)

2.Tata (35,300 Units)
- This comes as a surprise that the Indian carmaker Tata bagged second place on this list. Overselling one of the best selling carmakers in India is a big achievement for Tata as well as for India, #MadeInIndia.
With that, the next good news for Tata comes in the form of sales numbers as they are a whopping 50% higher than December 2020. Breaking the 10-year record, Tata sold 35,300 cars in December 2021 versus 23,546 cars in 2020.
3.Hyundai (32,312 Units)
- The Korean carmaker, Hyundai, had been taking the second position after Maruti Suzuki for many consecutive months and years. But sadly, Tata in December 2021 broke the streak. That said, Hyundai also recorded a 32% decline in car sales from December 2020. In December 2020 they sold 57,400 vehicles in India.
4.Mahindra (15,338 Units)
- Up-next is another Indian carmaker, Mahindra. Though 4th place on the grid, the Mahindra did witness a gain of 12% car sales when compared to December 2020. Last month Mahindra sold 15,338 SUVs in India, whereas in the same month of 2020, they sold 13,754.

5.Toyota (10,832 Units)
- The fifth position goes to another Japanese carmaker, Toyota. Apart from Toyota Innova and Fortuner, they don’t really have a promising car lineup. This position of their’s is definitely surprising. In December 2021, Toyota went to 10,832 customers.
- Nevertheless, it’s a significant increase of 45% when compared to December 2020. That said, Toyota is ready to launch a true Toyota in the country, Hilux pickup. Surely, this will have a positive response in the car sales for the company.
6.Honda (7,973 Units)
- It’s a surprise that well-engineered cars from Honda landed them in the sixth spot. In December 2021 Honda sold just 7,973 cars in India. Now that’s -8% growth in the number of cars sold when compared to December 2020.

7.Kia (7,797 Units)

8.Renault (6,130 Units)

9.Volkswagen (3,700 Units)

10.Skoda (3,234 Units)

- Skoda records a growth of 148% when comparing the two months of a different year. Also part of the India 2.0 vision, Skoda is yet focused to launch another vehicle, the Slavia in India. Surely it’ll have a positive impact on the sales of the company.
